March is here! As the transition month from winter to spring, we’re gearing up to say goodbye to the snow and hello to the sunshine. Despite a quick break in February, the winter weather is definitely not done yet. Deep Creek got a quick bout of snow last week and there’s another round of snow coming in the next few days! We broke down some of our favorite things to do this month to help you make the most of March!
Hit the Slopes – One Last Time – Wisp Resort has been busy maintaining their slopes to keep them in prime spring skiing condition. With the return of cool temperatures and natural snow, conditions are fantastic and they've been able to blow more snow around the resort. They have not yet announced a tentative closing date, so get out there and get a few more runs in before it’s too late!! The tubing park has also been well maintained and the conditions have been awesome!
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – Many local nightlife spots will be offering live music and fun events, including The Honi-Honi, Black Bear Tavern, and Moonshadow! Make sure you follow all of your favorite spots on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with their events and specials.
Three Rivers Boat Show – Itching for summer? Check out the Three Rivers Boat show March 28 & 29 at the Garrett County Fairgrounds! The boat show will feature vendors and exhibits for all things lake life. There's also going to be food trucks set up! Find more information on their website by clicking here.
Get Your Game On – The spring season, especially March, can be a difficult time to plan events outside once the ski slopes have closed and the weather isn’t…great. Luckily, Deep Creek has plenty of awesome trivia and game nights on various days of the week to help make staying indoors a little more enjoyable. Moonshadow offers game show nights every Tuesday - offering versions of games you know and love each week. Mountain State Brewing Co. offers bingo on Sunday afternoons and trivia on Thursdays! You can also head to the Greene Turtle for trivia every Wednesday!
Murder Mystery Dinner at Dutch's - Test your detective skills at this classic Murder Mystery Dinner Party at Dutch's at Silver Tree on Saturday, March 28! Your admission ticket pays for Hor D'oeuvres, Buffet, Dessert, Beer & Wine - will all proceeds going to HART for Animals. Dress to impress and test your mystery solving skills, all for a great local cause! Find more information about the event here.
While we’re always happy to see snow in the forecast, we’re also itching for that warm spring weather, too. Luckily, March usually brings both. There’s a lot to do this month to help you shake off some of that cabin fever – get out and enjoy it!
