Top Things to Do in February at Deep Creek Lake

We’re right in the heart of our winter season here at Deep Creek Lake! After a snowy January, we're looking forward to more snow this month! The ski conditions have been perfect with lots of fresh and man-made snow, too. February is home to some of our favorite winter events and is the perfect time to knock some of your favorite winter activities off your list!

Deep Creek Dunk Winter

Deep Creek Dunk - The Dunk is one of our absolute favorite winter events at Deep Creek Lake! The Deep Creek Dunk will take place Saturday February 24 at 11 AM. The MSP/NRP Deep Creek Dunk is the sister event to the MSP/NRP Polar Bear Plunge, which takes place in January in the Chesapeake Bay. Brave dunkers plunge into the icy waters of Deep Creek Lake behind UNO’s and The Honi-Honi, all to benefit the Maryland Special Olympics. If you’re not really up for racing into freezing waters, it’s still an awesome event to attend! Enjoy live music, prizes, specials, and more!

Oakland MD Winterfest Event Deep Creek

Oakland’s Winterfest - Fun for the entire family and spread out over downtown Oakland, Oakland’s Winterfest is the perfect way to spend an afternoon! Enjoy sampling wines with the annual 'Wine Walk,' take a sleigh ride, enjoy specials at many downtown Oakland shops, browse the museums, listen to live music and so much more! This event is a great way to get to know Oakland and all of it’s wonderful shops, restaurants, and history, too. There’s plenty to do inside and out!

Snow Shoe Tour Deep Creek Swallow Falls Winter

Snowshoe & Hiking Tours - Enjoy the incredible frozen landscape without the fear of getting lost or planning your route with the guided All Earth Eco Snowshoeing and Hiking Tours! If you’ve already explored most of the public parks and trails, this tour offers you a brand new perspective and shows you hidden treasures and takes you off the beaten path. Lasting around 2 hours and gently paced, it’s suitable for most ages and fitness types!

We have plenty of snow in the forecast and we’re ready for February! If you’re visiting but not really up for braving the elements, it’s a nice time to explore new shops and restaurants around the area. As long as the weather is okay, winter is a great time to travel a little further than you normally would to Grantsville or Oakland for exploring! We hope everyone soaks up as much of this wonderful season as they can, we’ll see you out there!
