Local Charities and Organizations We are Proud to Support
Railey Realty is proud and honored to support so many local businesses, schools, and organizations! Most of these wonderful causes have personal connections to us at Railey Realty, and we are always willing to help give back and support our community and those who live in it. From donating Christmas presents and meals to cleaning up our local state parks, we're all about community involvement and volunteering. Below are just a few of the organizations that we proudly support!
I Can Swim! Program
Students are transported from their school to the CARC for a four-day learning program during the regular school week. The goal of the program is to teach the children how to swim and how to be safe while in the water. Once the training is complete, each student will receive a certificate and a discount on a one year pass to the CARC.
Garrett County Memorial Hospital Foundation
The GCMH Foundation strives to help the community by providing medical services to inpatients and outpatients. It has focused on securing funds for critically important equipment that allows for state of the art healthcare.
Southern Garrett High School Athletics
Railey Realty is proud to support multiple sports teams at Southern Garrett High School. Southern Garrett High School is the largest educational facility in Garrett County. With only twenty-one area championships having been awarded in girls basketball, Southern has claimed almost 40 percent of those with its longest dry spell reaching just six years.
Northern Garrett High School Athletics
Railey Realty is proud to support multiple sports teams at Northern Garrett High School. Northern is ranked 64th within Maryland. In 2014 it was recognized as a Maryland Blue Ribbon School.
Deep Creek Watershed Foundation
Railey Realty is proud to support the Deep Creek Watershed Foundation! The Deep Creek Watershed Foundation is the only local nonprofit that is working with government agencies and officials, like the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, to help preserve and protect Deep Creek Lake and the entire surrounding watershed area. Many of our team members are directly involved with this wonderful local organization!
Garrett County Habitat for Humanity
The Garrett County branch of Habitat for Humanity helps assist our community by providing adequate housing for those in need. They use quality, locally-available building materials. The house designs reflect the climate and culture of Garrett County. All of the labor is done by volunteers and partner families.
The Maryland Salem Children’s Trust, Inc.
The Salem Children's Trust is licensed by the Maryland Department of Human Resources and provides housing, therapy, and educational services to children who have been neglected or abused or have other behavior or educational needs that require special attention.
Landon's Library
Landon's Library was established to help support education and learning for the youth in Garrett County. The ages eligible for this program are preschool children until their fifth birthday. Each child receives books of their own at no cost to you. Each month a new book is mailed to your residence for your child. This is an exciting new way to help prepare your child for preschool.
Samantha Funding the Arts
Samantha Funding the Arts helps local schools and children achieve funding goals for various art-related endeavors in our local community. Their vision is to inspire young artists, create new arts programs, and keep the arts in the school system.
Andrew S. Woods Memorial Scholarship Foundation
The Andrew S. Woods Memorial Scholarship is given to five local student-athletes graduating high school and heading into a four-year college.
Garrett County Community Action
Garrett County Community Action helps assist lower-income families and residents in Garrett County. It has been in operation in Garrett County since 1965. They work with partners to build a stronger community and provide services that improve the quality of life for residents with low income in Garrett County.
Friendsville Volunteer Fire Department
The Friendsville Volunteer Fire Department services all local communities, including those across nearby state lines when needed.
Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Department
Located in McHenry, the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Department serves several local communities. The organization hosts numerous fundraisers and benefits to help raise money for their necessary equipment and also for other local organizations or those in need.
WGW Community Youth Cup Golf Tournament
The WGW Community Youth Cup has been able to donate more than $250,000 to local youth charities and organizations. The event consists of two golf tournaments, a silent auction, a helicopter golf ball drop, a 5K color run, and more! The primary beneficiaries from this event are Samantha Funding the Arts, the Andrew S. Woods Scholarship Foundation, and Landon's Library.
Grantsville and Oakland Rotary Clubs
Rotary Clubs are generally made up of outstanding local citizens and families, with the mission to provide service to the community and local organizations or clubs. A local favorite and most famously in our community, the Rotary branches operate a food booth at most major events, which serves as a major fundraiser for their endeavors.
Holiday Giving
Every year the agents and staff at Railey Realty donate boxes of food, gifts, and their time to help assist local families. Through Service Coordination of Garrett County, Railey Realty donates complete holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as Christmas gifts. All of the families have at least one disabled family member. Railey Realty also donates Christmas gifts through the local Rotary Clubs. These gifts are for children whose parents are financially unable to provide presents.
Lions Club
There are a couple local Lions Club branches in Garrett County, all with the same mission to better serve their community. The Deep Creek Lions club hosts the annual Boat Parade and the Blind Skier Program.
GEARS, Inc.
The Garrett Engineering and Robotics Society, or 'GEARS,' is a local non-profit organization that focuses on getting children excited about futures in science and engineering. GEARS continually supports all of the local robotics teams, most of which have competed in the world championships.
United Way of Garrett County
For more than 15 years, the United Way of Garrett County has helped local projects and organizations team together to help allocate funding to projects and places of need in our community.
Garrett County Chamber of Commerce
The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce promotes tourism in Garrett County and at Deep Creek Lake, advertising on TV, the internet, and in print at close-by major cities. Their efforts and programs help unite local businesses while also helping our local economy.
Mountaintop Soccer Association
Mountaintop Soccer Association is a local organization for youth, ages 4-14. This program allows for children of varying ages to begin their love for sports while also building teamwork and communication skills.
Cindy's Fund raises money to help victims of cancer and their families by providing monetary assistance for almost every aspect of the process.
