During this time, I have held many positions within the Garrett County Board of Realtors, including serving as board president in 2010- 2011, 2013-2014, 2018-2019 and 2024-2025. I’m Larry Smith, and I have been a Realtor in Garrett County for 25 years. During this time, I have held many positions within the Garrett County Board of Realtors, including serving as board president in 2010- 2011, 2013-2014, 2018-2019 and 2024-2025. I have also been chairing many committees during my years in real estate. In 2011, 2019 and 2021 I was named Garrett County Realtor of the Year. For Maryland Realtors, I have been a Director At Large and sat on the MR Legislative Committee, Maryland Forms Committee and the Presidents' Advisory Group. I have been recently appointed as the 2025 Maryland Realtor Secretary.

I am a lifelong resident of Garrett County, growing up on the shores of Deep Creek Lake. My family has had many successful businesses in Garrett County since the 1940’s. I have been blessed to learn from the best. From my grandparents Gus & Alice Heise, Uncle & Aunt, Helmuth & Evelyn Heise to my parents Carroll & Doris Smith. Being a hard worker is in my blood. Garrett County, Deep Creek Lake is my life and home! Garrett County has been a wonderful place to be raised, and to raise my family here and generations to come!

I have been married to Kimberly Owston-Smith for 36 years. Kim and I have three daughters, Abbigayle and her husband Christopher Shue, Kassandra and her husband Trevor Green and MacKenzie and her husband Joseph Mousch. Our grandchildren are Owen, Hank, Griffin and Aggie.  Our family enjoys all seasons of Garrett County. Whether we are on the slopes or on the shores of Deep Creek Lake, family is what is most important. We are so blessed to call Deep Creek Lake our home! 

In 2017 myself, Kim, Abbi, Kassi and Kenzi all became partners in our family's summer business here at Deep Creek Lake. Glazed & Confuzed Donuts, a food truck located in Funland's parking lot. We love serving our community and vacationers. We believe in giving back to our community and donate to as many as we can. 

Over the years I have volunteered for numerous organizations, I have retired after 30 years as a paid and volunteer Wisp Ski Patroller. I have been a Junior Golf Coach at the Oakland Golf Club, which was a great way to spend time with my 3 daughters and other children during the summer.

I have been a soccer coach for the Mt. Top Soccer League for over 9 years until my youngest daughter advanced to high school soccer at which time I followed her and became a coach and then head coach for the Southern Lady Rams for 9 years.

I am currently a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Oakland, Maryland and St Peters at the Lake. For the last eight yearsI have been a member of the Knights of Columbus and  I am currently a District Deputy with the Maryland State Council.
