Performing Arts Center to Open Spring 2022 | Deep Creek News

Construction is underway on the brand-new Performing Arts Center at Garrett College, located in McHenry. Garrett County is the only county in the entire state of Maryland without a performing arts center. The $20M+ project was funded through support from the Garrett County Board of Commissioners and various State of Maryland funds. The venue will seat approximately 425 patrons and will have the necessary lighting, sound system, and other theatrical systems needed to accommodate a variety of performances. In addition to the seating, the center will offer dressing rooms, climate-controlled rooms for instrument storage, kitchen, lobby, and 2,000 sqft multi-purpose room.  While the PAC is located at the college, it will be used by the community as a whole. The future of the performing arts center is trusted to the appointed stakeholders to financially support it through 2032. The Garrett College Foundation, the Garrett County Commissioners, the Garrett County Board of Education, Garrett Arts Council, and Garrett Lakes Art Festival make up the key stakeholders. The stakeholders cover key demographics of Garrett County, including school-age children, who will benefit from the opportunities provided by the PAC. Groundbreaking on the site happened last year, and construction is nearly completion as we head into 2022.
