Railey Realty is thrilled to announce that our very own Bill Weissgerber was named the 2022 recipient of the Heise Entrepreneurial Spirit Award!! This award is granted to business owners who have shown business acumen, dedication to their community, and a drive to succeed and grow their business.
Martin Heise, son of Helmuth and Evelyn Heise for which the award was named, delivered a truly wonderful speech and introduction for Bill, outlining his life and accomplishments. Prior to moving here full-time, Bill’s family vacationed at Deep Creek Lake, usually staying at Will ‘O The Wisp hotel – which the Heise family owned and operated. Bill and Martin knew each other as young boys through this shared experience. Having Martin deliver the speech was extra special for that reason!
Aside from his professional achievements, which are ground-breaking and record-breaking in their own right, Bill’s true entrepreneurial spirit is evident in his devotion to the local community. From even a young age, his passion for giving back led him into various coaching avenues, his most recent helping the Southern Garrett Lady Rams Basketball team achieve multiple runs at the State Championship. One of his most lasting impacts on the community was the start of the WGW Community Youth Cup, which has raised more than $1M to support 125 charities and organizations in the Garrett County Community.
The award is given as part of the annual Garrett County Chamber of Commerce Membership Dinner. Nominations are submitted and reviewed by past Heise winners, who select their nomination, which is confirmed by the Chamber’s board members.
We could not be more proud of Bill for this recognition! It is so well deserved.
