Deep Creek Art & Wine Festival – September 9+10
Enjoy wine tasting, local vendors, live music, and more at the annual Deep Creek Art & Wine Festival! This amazing event benefits HART for Animals, Inc., a local animal shelter. Admission to the festival gets you a commemorative wine glass and access to the festival, which features hundreds of wines available to sample! The event runs all day Saturday at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. You can also kick off the weekend Friday night! Enjoy featured wine pairings at several local restaurants or attend the limited ticket VIP wine tasting at the fairgrounds! Wines offered at the festival are for sale by the bottle or case on site!
Fall Fest at Sang Run State Park - September 24
Head down to Garrett County’s newest state park for a day of fall fun! Sang Run State Park, home to the historic Friends Store, offers a peaceful setting just 10 minutes from Deep Creek Lake. Fall Fest activities include pumpkin picking, pumpkin painting, hay rides, making apple cider and apple butter, and other fun family-friendly activities.
Apple Butter Boil at Swallow Falls State Park - October 15
Join the park staff at Swallow Falls State Park and learn how Apple Butter is made! This seasonal staple is super fun to make, especially the old fashioned way. Apple Butter will be on hand to purchase, both from the demonstration and pre-made. While you’re at the park, take a lap around and enjoy the stunning colors of fall at one of our most beautiful parks!
Autumn Glory Festival - October 12-16
A local staple, the Autumn Glory Festival is an event like no other! Spanning five days and featuring two parades, multiple art shows, live events, and even pumpkin races, it’s definitely a ‘must do’ for the area. Autumn Glory is generally the second full week in October, which is when the leaves hit their ‘peak’ for their colors. Events take place all across the county, too. Catch the night time Fireman’s Parade and definitely don’t miss the Grand Feature Parade on Saturday! The streets of downtown Oakland fill with people, food vendors, and it’s just an event you have to experience for yourself. Art and vendor shows take place all weekend in multiple locations, including the Garrett County Fairgrounds and the Oakland Armory.
