Wisp Resort opened for the 23/24 season Friday December 15 - with 6 trails on opening day and 7 on the second day. Open trails included Squirrel Cage, Grouse, Boulder Run, and Possum. Backbone Pass was added on Saturday.
This is the first time in a long time that Possum was included on opening day. This is tremendous news because it's not only the longest run on the mountain, but it also allows skiers to get access to lifts from the top parking lot at ASCI, and provides a nice long downhill trail for beginners who are in between the bunny slope and Wisp Trail. Wisp utilized almost 100% man-made snow for their opening, and have been steadily making snow at every opportunity the past few weeks.
We have had great winter weather so far this year, with a few measurable snows, one nice storm, and another 6-12" storm on the horizon. We look for Wisp to continue opening terrain as weather permits! Their priority is typically opening the front side, then North Camp, then East Ridge, as the snowmaking equipment on East Ridge requires colder temperatures.
