The pilot dredging project in Arrowhead Cove was successfully completed in January 2024. The process has been a long-time coming, both with securing the funds and permitting requirements for a project of this size. The actual dredging of the cove began in the fall of 2023 with the installation of coffer dams, isolating a three acre section of the cove to remove 11,000 cy of sediment. Local company Byco Enterprises was awarded the bid and completed the dredging project early in 2024. After water was removed from the sediment, the sediment was then hauled to the Garrett County Landfill. Now that the sediment removal has been completed, the lakebed is ready for restoration of habitat and sub-aquatic vegetation planting.
