Explore the scenic and newly refinished Thousand Acres Golf Club! This course was a 9-holf course up until recently, when the back 9 were finished. This new expansion extends beyond the greens, with new pickleball and tennis courts, and planned clubhouse. Thousand Acres is one of the more expensive options in the area but is a favorite for most golfers who have played the local courses. There are several tournaments hosted at Thousand Acres throughout the golf season – most benefiting non-profits!
Thousand Acres is an expansive community with several ‘sections’ within the larger community. You’ll find stunning lakefront homes, golf-front building lots, Lake Access new construction, and everything in between! Keep in mind there are parts of this community that do not allow short term vacation rentals. Located on the southern end of the lake, it is a little further of a drive from other Deep Creek Lake activities and stores, but what you lose in convenience you gain in privacy!

Nestled on top of Marsh Mountain, Lodestone Golf Course is one of a kind! Spread out over the mountaintop, the course spans more than 100 acres as it meanders through the natural landscape. Featuring two signature holes – Hole 13 with a killer lake view, and Hole 17 with an unforgettable rock wall – it was designed to work around the natural landscape. Wildlife is also seen in spades at Lodestone, with black bear and deer known to pop through a round or two on a regular basis. Designed by golf legend Hale Irwin, it plays like a championship course!
There are several communities that border Lodestone Golf Course, including Greenbrier, Biltmore, Sandy Shores Estates, Lago Vista, and the newly developed Lodestone Village. Each of these communities offer pre-existing homes, new construction homes, and building lots! Outside of these communities, you’ll find several other nearby communities like Deep Creek Highlands and North Camp. Centrally located in McHenry, though, Lodestone is easily accessible and a short trip from most homes in the Deep Creek area.

Noted as one of the more challenging local courses, Fantasy Valley Golf Course is one you have to experience for yourself. Hole One is located at the base of Wisp Resort, with the rest of the course winding around the side of the mountain. The name has changed over the years, but the course remains as playable as ever!
In addition to the Lodge at Wisp Resort, there is only one other subdivision that truly borders Fantasy Valley – Greens at Wisp. There are, however, several communities in the immediate vicinity, including Fantasy Valley and Red Brush, plus the dozens on homes not in communities on Marsh Hill Rd and other nearby streets.

Not only is Oakland Golf Course the oldest course in the area, but it’s one a fan-favorite for both locals and visitors! The course is located just outside of downtown Oakland and offers sweeping views over the greens and natural elements. This is the only course with a true on-site restaurant! Oakland Golf Course also hosts several tournaments through the golf season, including the Western Maryland Amateur Tournament. This is a great course for golfers of all skill levels.
Only one community – Country Club Acres – directly borders the golf course. As a more established community, there are only a handful of building lots left, and most sales are for pre-existing homes. In addition to being close to homes in the greater Oakland region, Oakland Golf Course is only 15 minutes from Deep Creek Lake!
